It’s always so fun to do a custom garage door project for homeowners!

Rob and Sharon have been updating their home slowly over the past few years and finally budgeted for new garage doors!

They liked the classic look of actual wooden carriage garage doors – so that was our starting point for the custom design.

Our design team sat with Rob and Sharon and looked at tons of carriage style doors to find the exact style they loved and then we got to work!

Their custom garage doors were made out of red cedar wood with 3 inch thickness.

Once the doors were manufactured, we stained and sealed them in the shade they chose – we think it looks AMAZING!

In addition to the beautiful garage doors, we wanted to make sure they opened and closed perfectly.

We installed a LiftMaster jackshaft side-mounted garage door opener. These, as per California law, are equipped with a battery back-up and automatic lock.

We installed a jackshaft opener so that it could be installed on the wall, not the ceiling like most garage door openers. This was because we installed high lift tracks, so the doors will open and close as close to the ceiling as possible (a normal garage door opener would take up several inches in height so the doors can clear it).

This means there is high clearance from floor to ceiling in the garages when open.
